Nepal Announces 64th National Co-operative Day Theme

Kathmandu : The umbrella organization of the cooperatives in Nepal, National Cooperative Federation (NCF) has announced the theme for 64th National Cooperative Day as ‘Cooperatives in Decent Work and Technology.’  Every year NCF declares the theme for the National Cooperative Day that falls on April 2. The day marks the beginning of cooperative movement in Nepal with the establishment of Bakhan Cooperative in Chitwan in 1957 AD.

This years’ theme aligns with the need for cooperatives to go digital and ensure decent working environment especially in the COVID hit economy. Last year’s theme was Cooperatives for Decent Work and Tourism.

The cooperative sector of Nepal has got constitutional recognition as a pillar of socialism oriented national economy. As per the latest report, it boasts of approximately 7.4 million member and provides direct employment opportunities to more than 88,000 people.
