Ghimire awarded co-operative journalism award

Speaking at the ceremony, MoCPA Secretary Adhikari said that the government was the ministry was framing policies to encourage merger among the cooperatives.
“Cooperatives have played a vital role in uplifting people from the poverty as well as it has an important contribution in the national economy,” said MoCPA Secretary Adhikari.
“However, there are also shortcoming and mismanagement in some cooperatives. The new cooperatives draft law, which is on a discussion now, aims to overcome such shortcoming through additional measures of regulation,” he added.

KATHMANDU : Republica’s journalist Sagar Ghimire has been felicitated with ‘Co-operative Journalism National Award 2015’ by Nepal Society of co-operative journalist (CJN) on Saturday.
The association has said that it conferred the award to Ghimire in recognition for his contribution for the overall development of cooperatives through his efforts on in-depth reporting and outstanding writing on cooperative sector.
Ghimire, who is affiliated with Republica as a financial journalist since November 2013, was awarded with the cooperatives journalism award amid a ceremony of the CJN to mark its fifth establishment day of the CJAN an association of journalists reporting and writing on cooperatives sector.

Secretary of Ministry of Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation (MoCPA), Shankar Prasad Adhikari, handed over the award, which carries a purse of Rs 5,000 and a certificate.
